JRC

Description of the organisation

The JRC is a Directorate-General of the European Commission under the responsibility of the European Commissioner for Research and Innovation. As a service of the European Commission, the JRC functions as a reference centre of science and technology for the Union. Close to the policy-making process, it serves the common interest of the Member States, while being independent of special interests, whether private or national.
The European Solar Test Installation (ESTI) is a European reference laboratory operated by the JRC for the verification of the power and energy generation of photovoltaic devices. ESTI is located at the JRC’s Ispra site in Italy.
